There are 20 masters scholarships available in October 2006 for new MA, MSc or MRes courses at the University.

Eligibility: Full-time candidates (UK, EU or overseas) for relevant masters courses beginning in 2006/7. Only candidates who have or expect to obtain a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) should apply.

Value of scholarship: Tuition fee waiver at the home/EU rate. Successful applicants will be asked to demonstrate, before registration, that they have sufficient funds to cover their living expenses and, if overseas, the balance of the overseas tuition fee.

Availability: Twenty masters scholarships are available, in the following departments:

Biology: 2 for the MSc in Bioscience Technology
Chemistry : 2 for the MSc in Liquid Crystals and Nanomaterials
Educational Studies : 2 for the MA in Science Education
English: 2 for the MA in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture
Environment : 2 for the MSc in Environmental Science & Management or MSc in Marine Environmental Management
History : 2 for the MA in Modern History
Philosophy : 2 for the MA in Practical Ethics
Psychology : 2 for the MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience or the MRes in Psychology
Social Policy & Social Work : 2 for MRes in Social Policy or MRes in Social Work
Women's Studies: 2 for the MA in Women's Studies (Social Research)

Application procedure and deadline: Please apply using the masters scholarship application form. The application deadline is 30 April 2006. Successful candidates will be notified of the result of their application by the department concerned. Candidates who have not heard by mid July 2006 should assume that their application has been unsuccessful.
