Admission requirements and selection criteria
Students' applications are accepted from candidates who comply with the following requirements:

A first level degree(of at least three years) in Computer Science, or closely related disciplines, awarded by a university-level institution internationally recognised. Students who have not yet completed their first degree but expect to graduate before July 31st, can apply to the programme. If selected, their admission will be subject to receiving a copy of the degree certificate before July 31st.
Fluency in written and spoken English.

Important notice:

Students will be selected according to the following criteria:
Profile: academic records, work experience, other qualifications
Programming ability
English skills
Motivation
References

A maximum of 30 students from countries outside the European Union will be accepted in the academic year 2006-07.

Documents required

Photocopy of the applicant's identity card or passport (indicated as "Attachment 1")
One of the following:

- A copy of the IELTS-certificate (with a minimum score of 6.0) or the TOEFL certificate, (with a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 217 (computer-based), or the CAE certificate (with a minimum score of C) (indicated as "Attachment 2"). The TOEFL certificate must be not older than January 2004.

- Applicants whose studies at the University were hold in English can submit as "Attachment 2" a declaration issued by the University that attests this fact.
Those applicants whose studies were NOT in English, but who have taken some courses in English can submit as "Attachment 2" one of the following:

the self evaluation of the English level:
listening: native language, excellent, good, average, bad
writing: native language, excellent, good, average, bad
reading: native language, excellent, good, average, bad
spoken language: native language, excellent, good, average, bad
a declaration issued by the Institute, where the applicant followed the English courses, that states the final marks/credits that he/she obtained. This declaration should also contain the rating scale with the minimum and maximum marks/credits that may be awarded.

In both cases the University of Trento reserves the right to test the English level of those applicants.

Applicants who are Nationals and/or first-degree-holders of Antigua & Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, English-speaking Canada, The Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Republic of Ireland, Jamaica, Kiribati, Liberia, Mauritius, Micronesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America, Zambia or Zimbabwe do not have to submit any language certificate.

A copy of all first degree academic certificates (indicated as "Attachment 3").
A translation of the degree certificates in Italian or English, only if the original documents are not written in either of these languages (indicated as "Attachment 4").
Copies of all transcripts or other academic records that give proof of the undergraduate studies including credits and grades achieved in each single subject (indicated as "Attachment 5")
A translation of the transcripts and records in Italian or English in case the original documents are not written in either of these languages (indicated as "Attachment 6").
