India: Colombo Plan Scholarships

Government of India Scholarships:

Training under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC)

Since 1964, under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme of the Government of India, Government officials and nominees of developing countries are imparted training in various courses. The training is provided in some of the best Indian institutions specializing in rural development, mass communications, small scale industries, banking, computer technology, management and various other fields. The training is conducted in English Language. All expenses in connection with the training, including international travel costs are borne by the Government of India.

Procedure for applications: Interested candidates may apply for the scholarships in the prescribed application form. The application form duly recommended by the Cabinet Secretariat, Government of Republic of Indonesia should reach the Embassy six weeks before the commencement of the course for which scholarship has been applied for.

ASEAN-HRD Programme

Since 1998, 10 slots are offered to Indonesia out of the 100 seats allotted to the ASEAN countries. The course details, application form and the procedure for applications are same as under ITEC Programme. Under this Programme too all expenses in connection with the training including international travel costs are borne by the Government of India.

Colombo Plan:

Under Technical Cooperation Scheme of Colombo Plan, Government of India provides a comprehensive and integrated training to participants from member countries of Colombo Plan with the purpose of assisting them to enhance their administrative and technical capabilities through human resource development. Under Colombo Plan, nominated officers are
imparted training in various fields such as water resource development, hydrology, irrigation, banking, audit and accounting, small business planning and development, journalism, parliamentary practices, agriculture and also advanced technical areas such as remote sensing. The training is imparted in English. All expenditure in connection with the training including international travel costs are borne by the Government of India.

General Cultural Scholarship Scheme(GCSS)

Government of India through General Cultural Scholarships Scheme (GCSS) of Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi offers scholarships to meritorious Indonesian students to study in India. The Scheme covers Under graduate, Post graduate and Doctorate (M.Phil and Ph.D) level studies in various Indian universities and institutions.

Under the GCSS scheme all expenditures except international travel costs are borne by the ICCR.

Number of Slots: Indonesia - 20, Timor Leste - 10

Details of courses: under graduate, post graduate and doctorate level studies in science, arts and commerce streams of various universities attached with the application form

Procedure for Applications: The interested candidates having good academic record may apply for the scholarships in the prescribed form. The last date for submission of the application form in the Embassy is 15 February every year.
